Start-up Weekend - Developing a New Business

$

Dear Colleagues,

Please feel free to share and distribute the message below and the attached flyer (click here). Start-up Weekend is an international phenomenon where 80-120 people gather for a weekend to pitch product and business ideas to each other, form teams and see how far they can get with developing a business in 50-something hours. It is a great learning experience, a terrific networking opportunity, and some business do get launched! The events are open to the public and for the weekends in CT students can register for $25 (less than the cost of the food included).

Mark, can we post such events in our communications to students and faculty/staff (faculty/staff are more than welcome, too, they just have to pay the regular rate of $99)?

Thanks for spreading the word,

Drew Harris

Subject: RE: Question about Startup Weekend Storrs Startup Weekend

Hello Drew –

We would love to have students from Central attend!  We do have a student rate available that is the same for students of any University – it is $25, and they can sign up online at http://storrs.startupweekend.org.  Unfortunately we aren’t able to do any comp tickets at all – we did run an earlybird special for non-students (ex. developers, programmers), but the student rate has always been the same.

I have attached a flyer for the event (its very basic) – we would love it if you could distribute it to any students or others you think may be interested.  I’ll also be looking into the communications department at Central to see if I can add it to any announcement boards/broadcast messages that you have there.

Thanks for your interest, and hope to meet your students there!

Best,

~Katie
