I am a 1983 graduate of CCSU, BS Industrial Technology/Power Transmission. I am currently the National Sales Manager for Eastern Industrial Automation, a New England based company with (11) locations in the Northeast (www.easternia.com).  We are expanding our sales/marketing departments and looking  to recruit at least (2) recent college graduates with technical degrees to join our company and learn the business from the ground up eventually going into a sales role.

 

The Industrial Technology degree from CCSU has served me well during my career and I know that it would provide a good foundation for someone who is looking to get into the sales/marketing side of power transmission/automation.

We are currently seeking a Technical Lead to join our growing team based out of Glastonbury, CT. The Technical Lead is responsible for building, maintaining and supporting all of Founder Share’s technical activities. You must be really smart, self-motivated and eager to make a difference, and also have a strong work ethic. Communicating effectively and clearly is a must, as well as being able to give and receive direct and constructive feedback.

 

Primary responsibilities:

  1. Work with CEO to understand the business processes, work flow and user interface characteristics of the platform.
  2. Gather requirements for the technical implementation of necessary systems for FounderShare (FS), primarily the website and platform functionality.
  3. Contribute design and process ideas for the platform. Participate in the understanding and protection of intellectual property of the platform.
  4. Execute the build of the platform – hands on development testing and integration.
    1. Present a game plan for the build of the platform including technologies to be used, timeline and budget for approval by investors and CEO.
    2. Create development, test and production environments of the platform independently or in coordination with a hosting platform (i.e. Rackspace, AWS, Google Cloud).
    3. FS expects minimal custom coding and minimal use of outside resources for the build and maintenance of the platform. FS expects maximum use of open source technologies, community-based services and substantial work by the candidate to provide integration of technologies and user experience.
    4. Monitor and report on health and scale of the system.
    5. Design and execute a plan for the platform that optimizes external, usage based resources and a series of best practices to minimize the need for an internal development and maintenance team.
    6. Create projections for usage and functional growth of the system and plan necessary scale and security controls.
    7. Participate in the acquisition of necessary business systems such as accounting, CRM, HR – to the extent these systems are required, but secondary to the platform.
    8. Location: work from home (Boston or NY) with a willingness to travel to Hartford area 25% of the time.

 

Candidate attributes:

  1. Education (full or partial) at recognized leading technology school or university system or lab equivalent.
  2. Familiarity with open source development project(s) or development communities including top coder, source forge, github.
  3. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS and Google Cloud)
  4. Significant experience in developing and integrating with current active social platforms including twitter, Facebook, google.
  5. Strong desire to be hands on contributor to a high growth business that has technology as a significant (but not the sole) value component.
  6. Basic understanding of small businesses and business funding concepts.
  7. Total of less than 10 years prior experience as a software developer and/or UX/graphic designer.
